Doing our bit for the environment and community

It’s those little things that count. We provide our customers with the old fashioned paper bags and recycle our boxes. We support our local community groups including local schools, kindergartens and sporting organisations.

Family traditions…..

In 1926, the Taranto family migrated from Alicudi (a small Sicilian Island in Italy) to Australia. Bartolo Taranto (Bob) opened his first Greengrocer store a few years later located at Glenferrie Road Malvern. This would be the commencement of the Taranto’s three generations of fruit. Sam Taranto (son of Bob) had an early introduction to the fruit shop, helping his father when ever possible. Sam followed in his fathers foot steps and opened his first greengrocer in Prahran in 1960. Michael Taranto, (son of Sam) was inspired to also to follow in his fathers footsteps, opening his first store with his father at the age of 17.

With over 70 years experience between the three Taranto generations, the family tradition continues…..Michael now brings some of the old traditions back to Malvern, with friendly service and fresh quality products for you to enjoy!

From the owners

Lilla and Michael Taranto established Claremont Fruitique in June 2008. With over 25 years of product knowledge and winners of a number of industry awards from previous businesses, Lilla and Micheal aim to provide superior service and quality products at their new store in Malvern.

With a young family of our own, we understand the importance of feeding the family a well balanced and nutritional diet. We believe that our store, Claremont Fruitique provides our customers with a great range of quality products to choose from.
